Understanding Mood and Anxiety

More Than a Chemical Imbalance

Anxiety and depression are real, and they can affect every part of your life: your sleep, your work, your relationships, and your health.

Medication can make life more tolerable for some people, and it has its place. But it does not always explain why the brain is struggling in the first place.

When we look closely, we often find contributors such as hormone imbalances, nutrient shortfalls, blood sugar problems, gut dysfunction, hidden infections, toxins, or a nervous system stuck in fight-or-flight. Addressing these may help your mood improve from the inside out.

Looking Deeper

Root Causes We Look For

Your mood is influenced by far more than your circumstances. These are some of the contributors we look for.

01
Hormone Imbalances Cortisol that stays high at night, thyroid problems, and low testosterone or estrogen can all affect mood, sleep, and energy.
02
Nutrient Shortfalls Deficiencies such as low magnesium are linked to anxiety, insomnia, and more.
03
Blood Sugar and Metabolism Swings in blood sugar can bring on irritability, anxiety, and crashes in energy and mood.
04
Gut Health The gut and the brain are closely connected. Poor digestion and gut dysfunction can affect how you feel.
05
Toxins and Infections Hidden infections and toxic exposures can drive inflammation that affects the brain.
06
Stress, Trauma, and the Nervous System Past trauma, chronic stress, and old head injuries can leave the nervous system stuck in survival mode.
How We Help

A Path Toward Calm, Clarity, and Balance

Your plan begins with a thorough evaluation, including bioenergetic testing, lab work, and an in-depth conversation about your history and goals.

Depending on what we find, your plan may include bioidentical hormones, targeted nutrients, IV therapy, and gut repair, along with gentle tools that help the brain and nervous system reset: IASIS microcurrent neurofeedback, Perception Reframing Therapy, EVOX, and Nervous System Reset.

Our care is meant to work alongside counseling and your other providers. Please do not stop or change any prescribed medicine without talking to your prescribing provider.

FAQs

Mood and Anxiety Questions

Answers to common questions about how we approach mood and anxiety.

No. Please do not stop or change any prescribed medicine on your own. Our care can be added alongside your current treatment, and any future changes should be made with your prescribing provider.

Yes. Hormones such as cortisol, thyroid hormone, estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone all influence mood, sleep, and energy. Low testosterone, for example, is sometimes mistaken for depression. We test rather than guess.

Anxiety and sleep problems often feed each other. In some people, cortisol stays too high at night, which can make it hard to fall asleep and stay asleep. Read our post Can't Sleep? to learn more.

It depends on your situation. Both are gentle and non-invasive. We will talk with you about your goals and recommend the tools that fit.

We are not an emergency service. If you or someone you love is in crisis, call or text 988 right away, or call 911.
