RGCC Testing in Utah
A specialized blood test that looks at circulating tumor cells, so your cancer support plan can be built around information that is specific to you.
What Is RGCC Testing?
RGCC testing is a specialized blood test processed by the RGCC laboratory. It looks for circulating tumor cells, which are cancer cells that have shed from a tumor and are traveling in the bloodstream.
When circulating tumor cells are found, the lab can also test how those cells respond to a range of substances in a laboratory setting. These include conventional options, such as chemotherapy and targeted agents, as well as natural compounds. The report gives us one more set of information to consider as we build a personalized plan with you.
RGCC testing is not used to diagnose cancer, and it does not replace imaging, biopsy, or the care of your oncology team. We use it to help inform decisions alongside your oncologist, never to make them for you.

Four Reasons People Choose RGCC Testing
A cancer diagnosis brings hard choices. Many patients want as much information as possible as they decide on their path forward.
Benefits of RGCC Testing
RGCC results are one piece of a bigger picture. Here is how they can support your planning.
How RGCC Testing Works
We draw a blood sample and send it to the RGCC laboratory. We will coordinate the timing of your blood draw with you so the sample reaches the lab in good condition.
At the lab, circulating tumor cells are separated from the rest of the blood and counted. Depending on the test ordered, the lab may also study gene activity in those cells and test how they respond to a range of conventional and natural substances.
These findings show how cells behave in a laboratory setting. Your body is more complex than a lab dish, so results are always interpreted in context, together with your history, your other test results, and your oncology team's guidance.

More Information, Clearer Choices

Your RGCC Testing Questions Answered
Quick answers to the questions we hear most about RGCC testing.
No. RGCC testing is not used to diagnose cancer, and it does not replace imaging, biopsy, or care from your oncologist. It adds information that can help inform a personalized support plan.
It is most often considered by people who have been diagnosed with cancer, whether before, during, or after conventional treatment, and who want more information to guide their support plan. We will talk with you about whether it makes sense for your situation.
We encourage it. We believe the best care happens when your whole team works together. With your permission, your results can be shared with your oncologist.
Not necessarily. Laboratory results show how cells respond outside the body. They are one piece of information, interpreted together with your health history and your oncology team's guidance, and they cannot promise how your body will respond.
The RGCC laboratory offers more than one type of test. During your consultation, we will help you choose the test that fits your situation and your goals.
